Precer builds the worldís first hybrid boat for solid biofuels
{mosimage}Constructing the world’s first hybrid boat for solid biofuels is not only a great environmental achievement. It also means that Precer undoubtedly enters a business of huge potential. Martin Larsson, founder of Precer, is full of confidence.– The co-operation with Storsjöbåt opens doors to the marine market. There’s a big need of new and more environmentally friendly solutions in boating, which of course means significant business opportunities for Precer.
The globally unique initiative has been taken together with Storsjöbåt AS. The Norwegian company sees a great potential in co-operating with Precer AB.
– We’ve planned to produce an environmentally friendly boat for a long time. But we haven’t found existing technology with propellants such as ethanol, methanol or biodiesel attractive enough.
The disadvantages have been too many, explains Leif Eikeseth of Storsjöbåt AS.
But through the contacts with Precer, Storsjöbåt could finally make a move towards building the world’s first hybrid boat for solid biofuels. The fuel consists of ordinary wood pellets, which comes in practically unlimited supply, as opposed to oil. Leif Eikeseth also points out that there are several advantages of using the Precer technology.
– Pellets have a stable price development and are very suitable for local production. And regardless what happens on the global oil market, pellets are an energy source whose supply and price we can control ourselves, Eikeseth argues.
The fact that the hybrid boat can be manufactured locally in Värmland is a great asset, according to Martin Larsson.
Precer’s environmentally adapted biofuel solutions meet all the demands for future vehicles, boats and even combined heat and power stations. The technology is based on using solid biofuel (such as pellets) to power various types of hybrid vehicles, hybrid boats and small-scale heat and power stations. Precer is a company of the Inova Incubator.
