CARD.COOP introduces online courses for sustainable development

World-leading experts in sustainable development have been brought together in cyberspace. Now CARD.COOP introduces its web-based service where researchers and practicians provide training based on each specific customer’s needs and preferences.

“We’ll start out with two urban-design courses,” says company founder Jonas Lagneryd.

Since the summer of 2007, Jonas has worked actively with the idea behind CARD.COOP. The service is based on offering competence development and training by world-leading sustainability experts in the fields of urban design, product development and operations development. After lots of hard work, it is now time to launch the web campus that constitutes the base of the online training offered by the cooperative society.

“Two urban-design courses are ready for launch,” Jonas explains. One is called Eco-municipality 5.0’ and is given by Torbjörn Lahti – the man behind the concept of eco-municipality in Sweden, and an expert in the field. The course is primarily geared towards professionals working at a strategic level to create sustainable cities and communities, such as town planners. Even players who enter at a later stage, such as property developers and utility companies, will find the course, which is in English, very useful.

The other course to be introduced these days is held by Karl-Henrik Robèrt, a well-known cancer researcher and founder of environmental organisation The Natural Step. The name of the course is ‘Planning for a sustainable city’. In the future, the range of courses will grow based on demand and available resources.

Even before the introduction, CARD.COOP has already made a name for itself on the international market. One of the first projects will be carried out on behalf of future eco-municipalities in Chile.

“These municipalities will use our web campus as a platform. If the initiative turns out a success, the Spanish-speaking market may be one of our strongest,” says Jonas.

Every course can be tailored in order to optimise the outcome, based on the level of competence of the participants. Clients who have attended a seminar can, for example, tap into CARD.COOP’s online courses and assignments as a way of advancement and progression.

Ahead lies an exciting period with launch and expansion of the range of courses. With world-leading experts in the network, CARD.COOP will be able to offer a lot of important training.

“Primarily, I believe in clients who already need this competence, companies that strive for development and regard the Internet as a natural channel for training,” Jonas sums up.
