Assorted Nuts wins ‘Alumni Company of the Year’ award

Inova’s annual alumni reunion on 31 May gathered both old and new incubator companies. The entrepreneurs in Inova’s network thronged at Scandic Hotel Klarälven in Karlstad to share experiences, mingle and touch base with former fellow Incubator tenants. It was also the night when the ‘Alumni Company of the Year’ award was presented.

“This is a company of impressive driving power that has climbed to a position among the most prominent in its business, even internationally,” said Inova’s managing director Britt Lööv.

Some sixty people that have enjoyed Inova’s support met on 31 May to socialise and talk about entrepreneurship. The get-together included discussions on the topic of courage and driving power, but also the informal award ceremony to honour Inova’s ‘Alumni Company of the Year’.

“It’s an important award, and we’ve chosen to recognise an exemplary company that has shown both perseverance and a good business mind,” Britt explained.

This year, the award was bestowed upon animation studio Assorted Nuts. The citation, unanimously supported by the jury, was clear:

“Thanks to its ability to combine creativity and courage with a sound business mind, the Alumni Company of the Year has reached impressive success far beyond the Swedish borders. The company has shown that it is by being persistent and by following your own path that you attain the greatest successes. The Alumni Company of the Year at Inova, Assorted Nuts Animation Studios, is simply a brilliant role model for all young growth companies.”

Assorted Nuts develops and produces 3D-animated film for movies, TV and mobile-phone applications. It received a lot of attention for the production of the world’s first 3D-animated blogger, ‘theGoob’. That character was originally developed for mobile phones, but after five million downloads all over Europe, Assorted Nuts were contacted by Strike.TV, an American Internet TV website and network wishing to nominate the company for the Streamy Awards, which is the web TV equivalent of Academy Awards.

There, they won the award ‘Best Animation in a Web Series’ in April this year. In the past year, they have also released music videos together with EMI, the giant label.

“Inova has meant a whole lot to us, and we’re of course thrilled over this award,” responded Assorted Nuts co-founder Magnus Janson when receiving the award.
