Paperton launches unique magazine site

The total annual sales value of magazines – only in Sweden – is about SEK 4 billion. Studies show that approximately 40% of the readers could fancy digital magazines. This is something the people behind Paperton knew long before the rest of us. After a busy period of product development, they now launch a state-of-the-art service that even makes some of the country’s major publishers impressed.
-
It’s all a matter of being able to make magazines easily available to readers, regardless of their whereabouts and the form in which they want the information, says Nima Samimi, co-founder of Paperton.

The business concept behind Paperton is a one-stop shop for all types of magazines, printed as well as digital. Since every such periodical is published and stored online, the user can browse and test thousands of magazines, and search for specific articles and issues in Paperton’s database. Database archiving considerably increases the lifetime every publication.
- This way, the publishing houses can sell their issues for a much longer time, because the contents are available to the readers via Paperton, Nima explains.

Having gained that insight, it is not difficult to understand that the publishing companies are keen to co-operate with Paperton from day one. Many of the country’s most influential publishers already subscribe to the service, and more are on their way. Their gains are, of course, increased presence on the Web and the fact that their contents are available to more people on multiple platforms, including mobile phones.

The Paperton idea was born about two years ago. After intense product development and advanced tests, the site has now gone public. And the future plans are great.
- Paperton has huge growth potential, and what we see today is only the beginning. For example, it won’t be long before we have an application that enables reading Paperton magazines on iPads, Nima reveals.

Paperton is a product whose development takes place in an incubator company called iRead New Media. You are welcome to take a peek here! (In Swedish.)
