Municipality of Lysekil chooses Tilander Reflektion for major project
Employees who are allowed the time to reflect on their circumstances of life feel better. Which makes them happier at work. This is a well-known fact to Tilander Reflektion of the Inova Incubator, a company that has been selected by the municipality of Lysekil on the Swedish west coast, to play an important role in the comprehensive “Vision 2015” initiative. The project is both prestigious and significant.
- Being hired by a successful municipality that dares to launch new programmes may definitely be an important door-opener for the future, Kristian Tilander comments.
The initiative taken by Lysekil is an extensive one. The vision is, among other things, to create an open dialogue between the residents and the decision-makers, which increases the possibility to influence and have faith in the future. This renders positive effects in the form of lower rates of sick leave and more well-functioning workplaces.
One of the consultants picked to help Lysekil succeed in this endeavour is Kristian Tilander of Tilander Reflektion. His unique method of reflection has shown documented effects in increasing people’s well-being.
- Previously, we have seen that the outcome of the reflection method is of benefit to the employer, thanks to reductions in sick leave, staff turnover and early retirements, says Kristian Tilander, who has been hired as a consultant by public operations as well as private businesses who care for the development of their staff.
The work of Tilander Reflektion starts on 9 September, whereupon two groups of municipal teacher will start implementing the reflection method. There will then be a total of twelve meetings, ending in the winter of 2010. Although expanded co-operation with more professional categories may follow, the teachers are a priority group.- Teachers today suffer from heavy pressure. In their roles, they have a great need for sitting down together to talk about matters they find important. Without being interrupted, without being required to “deliver”. Through the reflection method, they are allowed to do just that in a way that makes them feel well, both as private individuals and in their professional roles,
Kristian explains. Kristian Tilander has developed and used the reflection method for 15 years. It is a matter of reflecting on how you feel. Not only how things are or how you are doing on the job. The method is a tool based on the fact that people who face themselves also make professional progress. Kristian sees the assignment for the municipality of Lysekil as an interesting challenge, especially in these times of recession.
- It’s exciting to work with an organisation that realises that now’s the time to invest in their staff and make them feel well. It’s going to pay off in the long run, he asserts.
