Conscious initiatives yield brilliant results for Woodlite

{mosimage}It pays off to care for your employees and dare to think along new lines. One living proof is Karlstad-based Woodlite. The company’s business is brilliant, and it was recently nominated “Entrepreneur of the year”. Magnus Jansson, founder and managing director of Woodlite, explains what has contributed to the company’s leading position in its line of business.
– We’ve resolutely invested in a first-rate business climate, but we’ve also been attentive to the market needs, he reveals.

The fact that Woodlite was nominated for the 2008 “Entrepreneur of the Year” award may be a result of the increased turnover – from SEK 8 million to SEK 14 million (about EUR 1.4 million) in just four years. Another reason could be that the company owners showed great courage when they decided, three years ago, to make their offer more focused.

Today, Woodlite’s business concept, unique in Sweden, is to assist sound and lighting companies with equipment support. During the first years, Woodlite also offered complete responsibility for the very staging of events.

That turned out too wide.
– Today we focus on letting of equipment, and thanks to that, we’ve been able to develop a more obvious expert competence, says Magnus. After Woodlite’s narrowing of its offer, turnover surged.

Woodlite is now a company of specialists, delivering state-of-the art and top-quality sound and lighting technology. But success is demanding:
– Woodlite must stay up to date with new trends and be one step ahead in the trendy staging business. Technology and trends change quickly, so business intelligence is important for us, Magnus explains. He also emphasises that Woodlite itself has become a trendsetter.

– We often invest in equipment that provokes interest in new opportunities for our clients. They discover technology that they weren’t even aware of before they came into contact with us, Magnus continues.

Furthermore, the Woodlite people also need to know how the equipment works “live”, and that spurs new ideas and creates inspiration. This very aspect has been one of the reasons why the company co-operates with Inova for many of the events being organised. RAMP was the most recent example.

– RAMP is an inspiring challenge where we can test ultra-modern equipment. With such an exciting and competent team behind the project, we’re even more likely to come up with new ideas, Magnus explains.

He rounds off by highlighting an aspect that is more important than a sharpened offer and good business knowledge, namely the people running the company.
– We’re a strong team of individuals who complement each other in many ways. The ability to co-operate is something that we constantly and consciously work on, and that’s something everyone should do. That pays off!
